Pakistani women created history by successfully summiting the 6,040-metre Khosar Gang Peak during the Alpine Club of Pakistan’s second women’s expedition. Eight climbers reached the summit on July 17, marking a major milestone for women’s mountaineering in the country. Their achievement highlighted determination, teamwork, and the growing presence of women in high-altitude adventure sports.

The expedition brought together women mountaineers from Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Islamabad. The diverse team demonstrated that female climbers from across Pakistan can successfully tackle some of the country’s most challenging peaks. Their success also reflected the increasing interest of women in mountaineering and outdoor sports.

The expedition leader, Bibi Afzon, guided the team to the summit with support from experienced high-altitude guides Ali Muhammad Sadpara, Sadiq Hussain Sadpara, and Ilyas Hushay. Their technical expertise helped ensure a safe and successful climb. Meanwhile, Quaid Shigri handled rope-fixing and route preparation, playing a key role in the team’s steady ascent.

The Alpine Club of Pakistan said careful planning and experienced leadership contributed significantly to the expedition’s success.
