Xiaomi Adds AirDrop Support to Quick Share on HyperOS Devices

Xiaomi HyperOS AirDrop

Xiaomi HyperOS AirDrop support lands on Quick Share as the brand joins Google and others in bridging the Android-Apple file sharing gap

Xiaomi users can now share files directly with Apple devices. The company added AirDrop support to Quick Share on HyperOS, allowing photos, videos, and files to move between Xiaomi and Apple devices without any third-party apps. The Xiaomi HyperOS AirDrop feature was announced through the official Xiaomi HyperOS account on X. Moreover, it marks a significant step toward seamless cross-platform file sharing that Android users have long wanted.

The feature works through Quick Share. Users open Quick Share on a supported Xiaomi device and nearby Apple devices appear in the sharing menu. The Apple device must be discoverable for the transfer to work. Furthermore, the process mirrors how AirDrop works natively on Apple devices, making it intuitive for users on both sides of the exchange.

However, availability is not yet universal. Xiaomi has not confirmed which HyperOS devices support the feature. Current coverage points to the Xiaomi 17T Pro as one confirmed model. Furthermore, wider rollout details remain unclear. The feature may also depend on a HyperOS software update, meaning availability could vary by device, region, and update schedule.

Xiaomi is not alone in making this move. Google previously introduced AirDrop compatibility through Quick Share on the Pixel 10 family and later expanded it to more Pixel devices. Furthermore, Google confirmed that AirDrop support through Quick Share is extending to Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi, and Honor. Therefore, the Android ecosystem is collectively closing one of its most frustrating gaps with Apple.

Users curious about the feature can test it immediately. Open Quick Share and check whether nearby Apple devices appear in the menu. Still, if the feature relies on a pending HyperOS update, it may take time before it reaches every Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco device. Finally, when it does arrive fully, the wall between Android and iPhone file sharing will be considerably lower than before.
