Saudi Arabia To Celebrate Eid Al Fitr On Friday March 20

The Saudi Supreme Court announced that the crescent moon for the month of Shawwal was not visible anywhere in the country. This followed organized moon-sighting sessions held at various observatories throughout the Saudi regions.

Despite a public appeal from the Supreme Court for citizens to participate in the sighting, no credible testimonies were received. Therefore, Thursday will mark the final day of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Supreme Court reviewed all reports from regional committees and official observatories before making the final decree. It confirmed that Ramadan 1447 AH will consist of a full thirty days of fasting for believers.

With the month of fasting concluding, the first of Shawwal 1447 AH will officially fall on March 20. This announcement sets the stage for grand religious festivities and public holidays throughout Saudi Arabia.

In addition to Saudi Arabia, neighboring Gulf countries including the United Arab Emirates and Qatar also reported no sightings. They have similarly declared Friday, March 20, as the first day of Eid.

The coordinated announcements across the Gulf region ensure a unified celebration for the Muslim community this year. Preparations for the communal Eid prayers and traditional family gatherings are now underway in these nations.
