The Pakistan Airports Authority issued a new NOTAM on Wednesday afternoon, marking the twelfth such extension of the ban. This directive prohibits all Indian-registered aircraft and military planes from entering Pakistani territorial airspace.

Under the latest notification, the restriction applies to all Indian airline operators and aircraft utilized by Indian entities. The airspace will now remain strictly closed for these flights until early morning on April 24.

This ongoing closure originated on April 23, 2025, following a period of intense diplomatic and military tension between Pakistan and India. By next month, this significant aviation restriction will have completed one full year.

The prolonged ban has created substantial operational challenges for the Indian aviation sector, impacting more than two hundred daily flights. Many international routes now require much longer detours to bypass the closed Pakistani territory.

Indian airlines are reportedly facing massive financial losses, amounting to billions of rupees, due to increased fuel consumption. They have been forced to establish new technical stops and reroute passengers to foreign carriers.

Aviation experts note that these extended flight paths have significantly increased travel times for passengers flying to Europe and America. The Pakistan Airports Authority remains firm on maintaining these restrictions for the foreseeable future.
