Monsoon rains claim 43 lives as relentless downpours continue to hit Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, causing widespread destruction and injuring 177 people. Disaster management authorities warned that more rain could trigger urban flooding and flash floods in several vulnerable districts over the coming days.

The Punjab Disaster Management Authority reported 21 deaths and 154 injuries during the current monsoon spell. Lightning killed two people, collapsing buildings claimed 15 lives, electrocution caused three deaths, and one person drowned. Authorities confirmed that floodwaters did not claim any lives during this period.

Heavy rain also damaged 38 houses and killed one livestock animal across the province. The PDMA urged local administrations to stay alert because continuous rainfall could quickly flood low-lying urban areas. Emergency teams have intensified monitoring and remain ready to respond to fresh incidents.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority confirmed 22 deaths and 23 injuries after collapsing roofs, falling walls, and flash floods struck several districts. The victims included nine men, 10 children, and three women. The injured included 11 men, five women, and seven children.

The heavy rains damaged 37 houses, destroying eight completely and partially damaging another 29. Peshawar, Nowshera, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Shangla, Swabi, Lower Chitral, Upper Dir, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Tank, Torghar, Kurram, and North and South Waziristan reported rain-related incidents. Authorities urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and follow official safety advisories while wet weather continues.
