President Asif Ali Zardari officially approved the conferment of military awards for 1,989 personnel of the Pakistan Armed Forces and Civil Armed Forces. This significant announcement was made by the President’s Secretariat in Islamabad on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

The approval followed a formal recommendation from the Prime Minister, acting under Article 259(2) of the Constitution of Pakistan. This constitutional provision empowers the state to recognize the gallantry and meritorious services of those who protect the nation’s integrity.

The diverse list of honors includes 23 Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 100 Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military), which are among the highest accolades for service. Additionally, 136 Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) were granted to officers and soldiers demonstrating consistent excellence in their duties.

Recognizing bravery in the face of danger, the President approved 11 Sitara-i-Basalat and 475 Tamgha-i-Basalat for distinguished personnel. These specific awards highlight the courage of individuals who have performed exceptionally during high-risk operations across various challenging regions.

The announcement also featured 130 Imtiazi Sanad alongside numerous service medals for long-standing dedication to the forces. This includes 175 Tamgha-i-Khidmat Class-I, 319 Class-II, and 620 Class-III medals distributed among the hardworking men and women of the military.
