Karachi drizzle is likely in parts of the city today, even as hot and humid weather continues across much of Pakistan. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) expects partly cloudy skies in Karachi while forecasting intense heat for Balochistan and Lahore. Meanwhile, northern parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could receive isolated rainfall. The department urged residents to stay alert as high temperatures continue affecting daily life.
Karachi may record a maximum temperature of 35°C during the day. The city started the morning at 28.4°C with humidity reaching 75%. Winds blew at 15 km/h, helping maintain partly cloudy conditions. Even so, humid weather will continue despite the chance of light drizzle.
Balochistan and Lahore remain under extreme heat
The PMD expects dry and very hot weather across most districts of Balochistan. Sibi and Nokundi recorded the highest temperatures at 45°C, while Chaman reached 40°C and Quetta recorded 39°C. Turbat reported 38°C, Zhob 37°C, Kalat 34°C, and Ziarat 29°C. Gwadar and Jiwani remained relatively cooler with temperatures of 33°C.
Meanwhile, Lahore continued to experience intense heat and uncomfortable humidity. The city recorded 36°C, while forecasters expect temperatures to reach 40°C later today. Humidity stood at 49%, pushing the feels-like temperature to 43°C. The PMD warned it could climb to 47°C because light winds of only 8 km/h offered little relief.
Northern areas may receive isolated rainfall
The PMD predicts hot and dry weather across most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Heat and humidity will increase across the plains, but Hazara and Malakand divisions could receive isolated showers. Peshawar recorded 33°C with 53% humidity, while Chitral, Dir, Malam Jabba, Saidu Sharif, Abbottabad, Bannu, and Dera Ismail Khan reported temperatures ranging from 20°C to 34°C.
Finally, the PMD advised residents to avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day. People should drink plenty of water and limit outdoor activities whenever possible. Although light rain may bring brief relief to some areas, hot and humid weather will continue across most parts of Pakistan.
