iPhone 19 Pro display prototypes reportedly feature quad curved screens as Apple prepares for a landmark 20th anniversary redesign
Apple may be about to make a dramatic design statement. Prototypes for the iPhone 19 Pro and iPhone 19 Pro Max are reportedly featuring quad curved displays, according to Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The iPhone 19 Pro display leak suggests that Apple’s 2027 Pro models could use screens that curve on all four sides. Moreover, earlier rumors from April pointed in the same direction, adding weight to the claim.
The design choice carries broader industry significance. Many Chinese Android manufacturers previously used curved and quad curved screens before gradually shifting toward flatter designs. That flat display trend is widely associated with Apple’s own influence on the market. Therefore, if Apple now moves in the opposite direction and adopts quad curved screens, Android flagship makers could follow suit as early as late 2027 and 2028.
The timing of the potential redesign also adds another layer of significance. Apple will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone in 2027. Steve Jobs first announced the original iPhone in January 2007, and it went on sale in June of the same year. Furthermore, Apple may use the anniversary as an opportunity to rethink its naming strategy entirely. Therefore, the iPhone 19 Pro and iPhone 19 Pro Max branding may not even survive to launch day.
No final naming decision has surfaced yet. Still, the combination of a milestone anniversary and a radical display overhaul suggests Apple is planning something genuinely significant for 2027. Finally, if the quad curved display makes it from prototype to production, it would mark one of the most visible design shifts in iPhone history — and the rest of the industry would almost certainly take note.
