The Sindh Government has announced a Rs2000 monthly subsidy for motorcyclists to provide immediate relief after the sharp increase in petrol prices.
On April 3, 2026, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah made the announcement as petrol prices jumped to Rs458.41 per litre. This relief package aims to support daily commuters who rely heavily on motorcycles.
Key Details of the Subsidy
- The government will give Rs2,000 per month to each registered motorcyclist.
- The subsidy will start as a one-month trial, but the government may extend it depending on the situation.
- All registered motorcyclists in Sindh province can benefit from this scheme.
- The government will transfer the money directly into the bank accounts of eligible riders.
- The application process will begin within the next 2 to 3 days, and the first payments should reach people within 15 days.
Sindh has around 6.7 million registered motorcycles, so this package will help millions of middle and lower-middle class families.
Additional Relief Measures
Along with the motorcyclist subsidy, the Sindh Government also introduced other support programs. Farmers will receive Rs1,500 per acre subsidy for up to 2 million acres. The government also fixed the wheat support price at Rs3,500 per maund. Moreover, public transport and goods transporters will get monthly subsidies between Rs70,000 and Rs100,000.
Why Sindh Took This Step
The provincial government acted quickly because petrol prices have increased dramatically in recent weeks. After the latest hike of Rs137 per litre, the burden on common people became very heavy. Therefore, Sindh decided to roll out its own targeted relief instead of waiting for the federal government’s plan.
Motorcyclists must ensure their bikes are registered in their own name. The government has also made motorcycle ownership transfers completely free to encourage proper registration.
What Motorcyclists Should Do Now
The application process will start very soon. People should keep their CNIC and motorcycle registration documents ready. The subsidy will be linked directly with their National Identity Card.
This Rs2000 monthly subsidy for motorcyclists is a welcome step, but many expect the government to extend it for at least three to six months if fuel prices remain high.
