Pakistan welcomed Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni on Tuesday. He arrived in Islamabad at the invitation of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The visit aims to strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations. Both countries will also discuss regional cooperation and review earlier agreements.
Senior Leaders Welcome Iranian Minister
Mohsin Naqvi received Eskandar Momeni at Islamabad Airport. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry presented him with a bouquet. Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam also attended the welcome ceremony.
High-Level Delegation Accompanies Visit
Momeni arrived with a senior delegation. The group includes the Governor General of Sistan and Baluchestan. It also includes the deputy interior minister, the deputy minister for urban development and transport, the head of the National Iranian Oil Company, the special representative of the agriculture minister, and other senior officials.
Focus on Bilateral Cooperation
Momeni told reporters that the visit aims to strengthen ties between Pakistan and Iran. He said regional cooperation remains a key priority. He also said both countries will discuss the current regional situation.
Previous Agreements Under Review
The Iranian minister said both sides reached several agreements during the Iranian president’s previous visit to Pakistan. Some of those agreements still need implementation. Therefore, both governments will review progress during this visit.
Interior Ministers Hold Meeting
Mohsin Naqvi met Eskandar Momeni after the arrival. Naqvi welcomed his counterpart and expressed hope for stronger bilateral cooperation. He also said the visit could help both countries make progress on regional issues.
Iran Praises Pakistan’s Hospitality
Momeni thanked the Pakistani government and people for their warm hospitality. He said he was happy to meet Mohsin Naqvi again. He added that Pakistan and Iran share strong and long-standing relations.
More High-Level Meetings Planned
During the visit, Pakistan-Iran relations will remain the main focus. Momeni will also meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. The leaders will discuss bilateral cooperation, regional developments, and the implementation of earlier agreements.
