The UAE has launched a new digital service called the Tourist Identity. This service allows tourists to open bank accounts instantly upon arrival. Consequently, the UAE rolls out instant bank account service using a secure digital identity issued at entry. The Central Bank of the UAE partnered with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank to launch this initiative. The goal is to improve banking access for non resident visitors.
Tourists Can Now Bank Immediately Upon Arrival
Upon arrival, ICP issues visitors a digital identity powered by biometric and facial recognition technology. By linking this identity to ADCB’s mobile banking app, tourists can open an account within minutes. They receive a digital debit card for immediate use. Therefore, the UAE rolls out instant bank account service that eliminates traditional paperwork. This removes a key barrier for visitors who need local banking during their stay. Tourists can make digital payments instead of relying on cash. They can manage expenses more easily and access secure services from day one.
The service particularly benefits business travelers, frequent visitors, and those planning longer stays. The initiative also supports the UAE’s broader push toward digital payments and reduced cash usage. Officials said the system connects tourists directly to the country’s payment infrastructure. This includes Jaywan, the national card scheme, and Aani, the instant payment platform. The UAE rolls out instant bank account service as part of its digital first economy strategy.
ICP added that the Tourist Identity system uses advanced biometric verification and artificial intelligence. Visitors can access services across sectors without presenting physical documents. The launch marks another step toward improving financial access for visitors while reinforcing the UAE’s position as a global leader in digital banking.
