The diplomatic war just escalated dramatically. Turkiye brands Netanyahu Hitler of our times in a blistering response from its Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The exchange stems from Turkiye levying charges against Israel’s military and political leadership over the naval interception of the October 2025 Sumud Gaza flotilla. Turkish media reports that the indictment seeks up to 4,596 years in prison for each suspect.
Istanbul’s Chief Public Prosecutor prepared charges against 35 suspects including Netanyahu. The list includes crimes against humanity, genocide, torture, and qualified looting. Activists aboard the flotilla were en route to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid when Israeli naval forces attacked in international waters. Among those detained were climate activist Greta Thunberg and Al Jazeera journalist Oman Faiad.
The Turkish foreign ministry stated that Netanyahu’s current objective is to undermine ongoing peace negotiations. Failing this, he risks being tried in his own country. Turkiye brands Netanyahu Hitler of our times because his expansionist policies threaten the region. Netanyahu fired back, saying Israel will continue fighting Iran’s terrorist regime and its proxies. He accused Erdogan of aiding terrorists and slaughtering Kurdish citizens.
Israel Defence Minister Katz called Erdogan a paper tiger. The indictment follows the ICC arrest warrant issued against Netanyahu in November 2024 for war crimes. Turkiye brands Netanyahu Hitler of our times, and this sharp war of words shows no sign of cooling down.
