Shadab Khan said he wants Babar Azam to win the Pakistan Super League title after Islamabad United crashed out of the tournament. Shadab made the comments after Hyderabad Kings edged his side in a dramatic match. As a result, Hyderabad secured a place in the final while Islamabad’s campaign came to an end.
In the second eliminator of Pakistan Super League season 11 at Gaddafi Stadium, Hyderabad Kings defeated Islamabad United by two runs. The match remained tense until the final over. Hyderabad posted 186 for 5 in 20 overs. In reply, Islamabad finished on 184 for 7 while chasing 187.
Hyderabad fast bowler Hanan Shah defended six runs in the last over and sent his team into the final. After the match, Shadab praised the bowler’s effort. He said Hanan had been fighting injury for a long time. Therefore, he added that the bowler deserved the success and recognition he received.
Meanwhile, Shadab admitted that Islamabad needed better execution in the closing overs. He said the team’s death bowling required improvement. He also praised Hyderabad’s fielding and said their players saved valuable runs at important moments. According to him, Hyderabad carried stronger momentum into the contest and used it effectively under pressure.
The Islamabad captain also reflected on his own performance. He said he did not produce the hitting his team needed. He added that Islamabad struggled to build momentum during key phases of the chase. However, he credited Haider Ali for briefly lifting the innings before the batter lost his wicket.
In the end, Shadab backs Babar as the PSL final approaches. He said he hopes Babar finally lifts the trophy after trying for a long time. At the same time, he admitted Hyderabad Kings look difficult to stop because of the way they are playing. Now attention turns to whether Babar can turn that support into a title.
