PMD Rain Forecast Predicts Five-Day Spell Across All Provinces

The PMD rain forecast covers all four provinces plus Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan from June 16 with thunderstorms and heavy falls expected

Pakistan is bracing for a significant five-day weather event. The Pakistan Meteorological Department warns that a westerly wave will approach upper parts of the country from June 16. It will persist through June 20. Additionally, moist currents from the Arabian Sea will penetrate upper and central parts during the same period. Together, these systems will trigger widespread rain, thunderstorms, dust storms, and hailstorms across the country.

Here is a full breakdown of what each region can expect.

Punjab and Islamabad

Scattered dust storms, wind storms, and rain-thunderstorms are expected across Punjab and Islamabad from June 16 to June 20. Isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are also possible. The affected areas include Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Pakpattan, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, DG Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Kot Addu.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan

Kashmir will experience scattered rain, wind, and thunderstorms from June 16 to June 22. Isolated heavy falls and hailstorms are also possible. Areas include Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur. Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan will see similar conditions from June 18 to June 22. This covers Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

Scattered dust storms and rain-thunderstorms will also hit KP from June 16 to June 20. Isolated heavy falls and hailstorms remain possible throughout the period. The forecast covers Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Hangu, and Kurram.

Balochistan

Northern and northeastern Balochistan will additionally face dust storms and thunderstorms from June 16 to June 20. Heavy falls are possible in some areas. Affected districts include Zhob, Sherani, Ziarat, Kohlu, Naseerabad, Quetta, Qillah Saifullah, Qillah Abdullah, Harnai, Sibbi, Barkhan, Khuzdar, and Dera Bugti.

Sindh

Upper Sindh will also see dust storms and rain-thunderstorms from June 16 to June 20. This covers Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Dadu, Ghotki, Kashmore, Shikarpur, and Shaheed Benazirabad. Furthermore, Karachi and surrounding areas may experience dust storms with light rain during the forecast period.

The PMD Pakistan rain forecast covers virtually the entire country over the next five days. Therefore, residents across all provinces should stay updated through official channels. Avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during peak storm hours. Additionally, take precautions against strong winds, lightning, and flash flooding in vulnerable areas.
