Google just made Android phones considerably more personal. The company released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 bringing significant Android 17 customization improvements. Therefore, Android 17 customization reaches new heights with the latest beta build. Several bug fixes accompany the customization and security enhancements. Screenshots shared by Mishaal Rahman reveal these exciting changes. Additionally, the update targets eligible Pixel devices first. Furthermore, these features will likely reach all Android phones eventually.
Quick Settings Finally Gets More Control
Android finally allows meaningful Quick Settings customization. Users can now rearrange the main sections of the Quick Settings panel entirely. Previously, Google restricted users to its default layout. Moreover, the new Quick Settings layout editor provides extensive control. Users can change the order of the brightness slider, Quick Settings tiles and media player. Additionally, individual Quick Settings controls can be rearranged freely. Furthermore, selected toggles can appear as larger tiles. Therefore, Pixel users gain considerably more flexibility placing frequently-used controls. They can position essential controls where they’re easiest to reach. This represents a major departure from Google’s historically rigid approach.

More Color and Visual Customization
Google is expanding Android’s theming options substantially. The updated Dynamic Color system adds a slider letting users fine-tune preferred accent colors. Previously, users chose only from preset color options available. Moreover, the new slider enables continuous color adjustment. The interface also offers different theme treatments for selected colors. Meanwhile, Android 17 is expanding blur effects across system interface parts. Google continues moving toward a more translucent visual style consistently. However, these visual changes remain part of the beta experience. Therefore, they could be adjusted before final release. Additionally, user feedback may influence the final implementation approach.

More Scam Protection
Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 introduces additional protection against social-engineering scams. Call forwarding fraud represents a growing threat to mobile users. Additionally, Android will now display operating-system-level confirmation messages. When users manually enter certain call-forwarding USSD codes, the system confirms intent. Moreover, Google is restricting apps from silently triggering call-forwarding commands. Apps can no longer execute these commands in the background silently. Standard phone permissions no longer grant this capability automatically. Other USSD functions remain unaffected by the new restrictions. Account checks and mobile-money requests continue functioning normally. Finally, the Android 17 customization update demonstrates Google balancing personalization with security priorities effectively.
