Pakistan passport mobile app development begins as DGIP partners with a private bank to digitise immigration fee payments nationwide

Pakistan’s passport office is going digital. The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is working with a private bank to introduce a cashless payment system. Citizens will soon pay passport and immigration fees directly through a mobile app. The Pakistan passport mobile app removes the need to visit a physical payment counter. Moreover, DG Muhammad Ali Randhawa confirmed the initiative after meeting the bank’s delegation. He said digital payments would make service delivery faster, easier, and more transparent.

The bank has already started building the required infrastructure. Furthermore, both sides finalised the digital rollout mechanism during the meeting. The initiative forms part of a broader government push to digitise public services. Therefore, the passport payment app is one piece of a larger effort to modernise how citizens interact with government departments.

Officials said the system would offer secure and modern payment facilities. Furthermore, additional steps are underway to improve immigration services beyond just the payment process. Therefore, the improvements aim to reduce the friction and delays that have long frustrated passport applicants across the country.

The announcement also carries an important warning. Officials flagged a fraudulent individual misusing the Google Maps listing of the Regional Passport Office in G-10, Islamabad. Furthermore, this person added personal contact details to the online location. They are demanding payments through JazzCash and various bank accounts unlawfully.

Citizens must not share personal information or pay any such individuals. All passport guidance must come through official channels only. Finally, as Pakistan moves toward digital passport services, staying alert to online fraud becomes just as important as embracing the convenience those new services will offer.
