FBR Allows Use of Confiscated Luxury Cars for Anti Smuggling Operations

FBR allows use of confiscated luxury cars

The tax authority just gave itself a new fleet. FBR allows use of confiscated luxury cars for anti smuggling and enforcement formations starting April 2026. Vehicles above 1800 cc will now serve operational purposes. Hard area formations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa can also receive these vehicles. This includes Gwadar, Torkham, Chaman, Gilgit, Sost, and other border stations.

The FBR issued Customs General Order 4 of 2026 to regulate this process. Tampered vehicles with cut and weld chassis numbers cannot go to private individuals. Only government departments, semi government organizations, and state owned institutions can purchase them. Customs formations get priority for allocation under Section 182 of the Customs Act. Each unit must submit proposals justifying their vehicle needs based on staffing and operational requirements.

A committee headed by the Member of Customs Operations will review and approve allocations. Formations must conduct quarterly reviews of their vehicle requirements. Replacement is allowed when vehicles become unroadworthy or dismantled. The Customs Wing will also develop a digitized system to track confiscated tampered vehicles. Forensic reports, photographs, and litigation status will all go into the database. The Cabinet Division will have access to this system.

FBR allows use of confiscated luxury cars, but with strict oversight. Buses, coasters, and vans that cannot sell to government departments may transfer free of cost to educational and medical institutions. Any vehicle remaining undisposed within five years will face dismantling. This move turns seized luxury cars into operational tools for Pakistan’s border enforcement.
