India’s Cockroach Janata Party has announced the end of its protest after successful talks with the government. Party leaders said the government accepted all of their key demands. They asked protesters to end their demonstrations peacefully. The agreement now awaits written confirmation from the government.
Union Minister J.P. Nadda and Minister Jitendra Singh held talks with party representatives. After the meeting, the party spokesperson addressed a joint press conference. The spokesperson said both sides reached an agreement on all major issues.
The spokesperson said the government accepted every demand raised by the movement. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned. The government also agreed to compensate the families of students who died by suicide after the NEET paper leak. In addition, authorities will withdraw all FIRs filed against party workers across the country.
The government also accepted the party’s five-point agenda for education reforms. Both sides agreed to continue discussions on the remaining details. Party leaders said future meetings would focus on implementing the agreed reforms.
The spokesperson added that the government promised not to take action against party leaders or workers in the future. Officials also agreed to provide a written guarantee by next Tuesday. The party said this assurance played an important role in ending the protest.
The Cockroach Janata Party started its protest in New Delhi in May 2026 over the examination paper leak issue. During the campaign, well-known Indian activist Sonam Wangchuk observed a 26-day hunger strike in support of the movement.
On July 20, the party called supporters to gather at Jantar Mantar. Thousands of young people joined the demonstration. Police responded with baton charges and water cannons. Authorities also detained dozens of protesters during the operation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi later released a video message asking protesters to end the demonstrations. However, the protesters continued their campaign and demanded the resignation of the education minister. Opposition parties and several public figures also supported the protesters’ demands until the government reached an agreement with the Cockroach Janata Party.
