Marvel’s Wolverine is back in the spotlight after a new release window surfaced online. According to recent updates, Insomniac Games confirmed that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch on September 15, 2026. The announcement ends months of silence around one of the most anticipated PlayStation exclusives.

On May 7, Insomniac briefly repeated the September release date in a social media post. The studio also shared a wishlist link for the PlayStation Store. Although the update was short, it reassured fans that the project remains on schedule and no delay has been announced.

At the same time, new industry comments suggest the game may remain exclusive to PlayStation. According to Jason Schreier, Sony may stop bringing some major single-player titles to PC. He said Marvel’s Wolverine could stay unavailable outside the PlayStation ecosystem for an extended period.

That possibility would mark a major change in strategy. Over the last five years, Sony released several major titles on PC. Those releases included Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, The Last of Us, and Uncharted. As a result, PC ports had become a normal part of Sony’s business approach.

Schreier also said some earlier PC ports did not meet internal expectations. He noted that technical problems during several launches may have weakened support for future expansion. However, he added that live-service multiplayer projects will likely continue reaching PC. Games such as Fairgame$ and Horizon Hunters Gathering are already expected to launch across platforms.

The timing of Marvel’s Wolverine could prove important for Sony. The game is set to arrive only weeks before Grand Theft Auto VI launches in November. Therefore, Sony may use that window to boost PlayStation 5 sales. In the end, Marvel’s Wolverine could become one of the final major exclusives before the next hardware generation begins.
