Pakistan IT Exports Reach $435 Million in September 2026

Pakistan IT exports

Pakistan’s IT exports reached $435 million in September 2026, up about 19 percent from a year earlier and $2 million below the all-time monthly record of $437 million set in December 2025, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data. Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad highlighted the figure on Friday, October 16, 2026, crediting targeted incentives in the FY27 budget and a strengthening digital economy. Exports for the first quarter of FY27 (July to September) totalled about $1.25 billion.

September was 10 percent higher than August, but monthly receipts have been uneven over the past year: $373 million in May, $416 million in June, then $435 million in September. Over the trailing 12 months, exports reached $4.8 billion, up 20 percent from $4 billion a year earlier.

Reports put growth at 18 or 19 percent

The growth rate varies by a point depending on the source. SBP-based coverage says 19 percent for September, Schehzad and Samaa say 18 percent, and the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) puts it at 18.21 percent. For the first quarter, Schehzad said exports were up about 18 percent.

IT is Pakistan’s largest services export, at about 46 percent of the total, and the only sector with a trade surplus above $1 billion in the quarter. PSEB put that first-quarter IT surplus at $1.04 billion.

The $10 billion target needs nearly double September’s monthly pace

The government’s Uraan Pakistan plan targets $10 billion in annual IT exports by FY29. Topline Securities said in July that, from the FY26 base, this requires growth of about 29.5 percent a year and another $5.4 billion in annual receipts. By Hype’s arithmetic, $10 billion spread over twelve months works out to roughly $833 million a month, against $435 million in September.

The sector also missed its last target. IT exports closed FY26 at a record $4.6 billion, up about 20.6 percent from $3.814 billion, but short of the $5 billion goal. Industry voices have pointed to internet reliability and payment-channel friction as the constraints.
