As the Islamic calendar progresses, Muslims across the country eagerly anticipate Eid ul Adha 2026. This sacred festival, also known as Bakra Eid, is expected to begin on the evening of May 26, 2026. However, the official start in Pakistan likely falls on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, depending on the moon sighting. This “Festival of Sacrifice” honors the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). It is a time for spiritual reflection, communal prayers, and the ritual of Qurbani. Families gather to share the meat of sacrificed animals with relatives, neighbors, and those in need. Consequently, the atmosphere remains filled with a spirit of charity and togetherness.
Preparations for the event often start weeks in advance. People visit bustling cattle markets, such as the famous Northern Bypass mandi in Karachi, to find the perfect sacrificial animal. Beyond the religious rituals, Bakra Eid is famous for its rich culinary heritage. Since the holiday spans three days, the kitchen becomes the heart of every home. From the early morning “Kaleji” breakfast to lavish dinner parties, the focus remains entirely on succulent meat dishes.
Delicious Meat Recipes for Eid ul Adha 2026
To help you host a memorable feast, we have curated two classic Pakistani recipes that highlight the natural flavors of fresh meat.
1. Authentic Quetta-Style Namkeen Gosht (Beef Rosh)
This dish is a favorite in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It uses minimal spices to let the quality of the meat shine.
- Ingredients: 1 kg beef (with fat), 2 medium ginger pieces (sliced), 5-6 garlic cloves, 2 medium potatoes (peeled), 1 tbsp salt, and 2 cups of water.
- Method: Place the beef and fat in a heavy-bottomed pot or pressure cooker. Add the salt, ginger, garlic, and whole potatoes. Pour in the water and seal the lid. If using a pot, slow-cook on low heat for 3 to 4 hours until the meat is “falling off the bone.” For a quicker version, pressure cook for 45 minutes. Serve hot with traditional naan.

2. Special Mutton Makhni Karahi
This creamy and spicy karahi is a crowd-pleaser for any Eid dawat.
- Ingredients: 750g mutton, ½ cup yogurt, 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste, 3 pureed tomatoes, 1 tsp red chili powder, ½ cup butter (makhan), and fresh coriander for garnish.
- Method: Marinate the mutton in yogurt and ginger-garlic paste for 30 minutes. Cook the meat in a pot until tender. In a separate wok, melt the butter and add the tomato puree and spices. Sauté until the oil separates. Add the cooked mutton to the wok and stir-fry on high heat for 5 minutes. Finally, garnish with ginger juliennes and coriander.

These dishes will certainly make your celebrations more flavorful. Whether you prefer the rustic taste of Rosh or the richness of Karahi, these recipes ensure a fantastic dining experience for your loved ones.
