Pakistan faces a serious public health crisis. The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources released alarming findings this week. Therefore, bottled water unsafe Pakistan represents a critical consumer safety issue. PCRWR tested 230 samples collected from 20 major cities. The testing occurred between April and June 2026. Furthermore, results compared against Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority standards. Moreover, 29 brands failed to meet safety requirements completely. Bacterial contamination represents the most severe danger identified. Twenty-two brands contained harmful bacteria making them unsafe for consumption. Mai Sial Bottled Drinking Water tested positive for contamination. Additionally, JERS Safe Life, Natural Pure Life and Natural Sip failed bacterial tests. Furthermore, Al Meer, Al Saha and Al Shifa contained bacterial pathogens. Still, multiple other major brands also showed bacterial presence. Royal Fina, Aqua Nice Pure Life and Noor Aqua tested positive. Additionally, Aqua Pure, Drinkwell Pure Drinking Water and Imperial Pure failed. Meanwhile, Zalmi, Deep Blue and Aab-e-Haram exhibited bacterial contamination. Furthermore, Vital Sip, Hunza Ulter Water and Rehydr8 Drink showed problems. Also, Moya Mineral Water, Tynant Aqua and Aqua Pura Smart failed tests.
Sodium contamination affects nine additional brands problematically. The permissible sodium limit stands at 50 parts per million. However, HR Water Healthy Life exceeded this threshold significantly. Additionally, A2Z Pure Bottled Drinking Water contained excessive sodium. Moreover, Pure Drinking Water and Deep Blue Pure failed sodium tests. Furthermore, Sip Nest Purified Drinking Water exceeded permissible levels. Still, Aab-e-Haram, Aqua Life Bottled Drinking Water also exceeded limits. Meanwhile, Water Drinkly and Alpha H2O Bottled Drinking Water tested high. Therefore, sodium-contaminated water poses health risks particularly for hypertensive patients.
Total Dissolved Solids contamination affects four brands. The permissible TDS limit remains 500 parts per million. However, A2Z Pure Bottled Drinking Water exceeded this limit significantly. Additionally, Imperial Pure Drinking Water contained excessive TDS levels. Furthermore, Aab-e-Haram also showed elevated TDS concentrations. Still, Alpha H2O Bottled Drinking Water exceeded permissible thresholds. High TDS water tastes unpleasant and may cause health effects. Therefore, TDS contamination demands consumer attention.
PCRWR Director General Dr. Hifza Rasheed issued the findings officially. The federal government directed PCRWR to conduct quarterly monitoring. Quarterly monitoring helps track bottled water quality trends continuously. Publishing findings raises public health awareness systematically. Therefore, bottled water unsafe Pakistan results require immediate consumer action. PCRWR urged consumers checking detailed quality reports before purchasing. Finally, this contamination crisis demands urgent regulatory enforcement and industry accountability throughout Pakistan’s bottled water sector.
