Xiaomi 17 Max specs reveal an 8000mAh battery, 200MP Leica camera, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 ahead of a May 21 launch

Xiaomi is not holding back with its next flagship. The company has started confirming key Xiaomi 17 Max specs ahead of the phone’s expected launch on May 21 in China. Battery life, display technology, and camera performance are the three pillars Xiaomi is pushing hardest. Moreover, the teasers suggest the company is making a serious move into the large-screen premium smartphone segment.

Battery and Charging

The 8000mAh battery is the headline figure. Xiaomi calls it the largest battery the company has ever put in a smartphone. It supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Furthermore, Xiaomi uses silicon-carbon battery technology to keep the design slim despite the massive cell size. Therefore, users get big capacity without the bulk that usually comes with it.

Display Details

The Xiaomi 17 Max carries a 6.9-inch Super Pixel display. Xiaomi says the panel uses a new RGB sub-pixel arrangement that delivers near 2K sharpness while consuming less power than traditional 1.5K OLED screens. Additionally, a new red luminous material improves brightness efficiency and colour uniformity. The result, therefore, should be a screen that looks sharper and lasts longer on a single charge.

Camera System

Xiaomi has confirmed the phone will feature the company’s first Leica-backed 200MP main camera. That is joined by a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto lens and a 50MP ultrawide sensor. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powers the device. Xiaomi says it delivers flagship-level gaming and multitasking performance. The company also teased a redesigned internal layout aimed at improving thermal management and camera module placement.
