WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature designed to simplify how users manage events. The WhatsApp Events hub gives users one place to create, review and track events without digging through individual chats.
The feature is currently limited to some beta testers on WhatsApp beta for Android 2.26.36.5. It appears as a new option inside the app’s settings menu. Additionally, WhatsApp has added a badge in settings to help users spot the new section more easily.
All Events in One Place
Previously, users had to open individual chats or groups just to find events they had created or joined. Instead, the new hub consolidates everything into a single page. It displays events users have created alongside invitations they have received. Therefore, tracking multiple events no longer requires searching through scattered conversations.
Create Events Directly From Settings
Users can create a new event by opening the hub and selecting “Create event.” They can then add a name, description, start and end times, location, and a WhatsApp call link. WhatsApp also allows hosts to set reminders, with one hour before the event serving as the default. Furthermore, hosts can enable guests to bring another person or add a cover photo to the event page. Users can still create events directly from individual chats and groups as before.
Invite People Who Do Not Use WhatsApp
One notable addition allows hosts to invite guests without a WhatsApp account. When an event is created, WhatsApp generates a shareable invitation link. Anyone with the link can view basic details, including the event name, date and time. However, guests without WhatsApp must enter their name and verify their phone number to respond. Only after confirming attendance can they view the full location and call link.
Event Privacy
According to WhatsApp, event details such as name, date, location and guest list remain visible to guests and to WhatsApp itself. Hosts can see each guest’s name, response and phone number. Meanwhile, confirmed attendees can view other guests’ names and responses, though phone numbers stay hidden unless already saved as a contact. Personal messages and calls remain protected by end-to-end encryption throughout.
Gradual Rollout
The WhatsApp Events hub remains limited to select Android beta users for now. WhatsApp is rolling out the feature gradually, so installing the latest beta does not guarantee immediate access. Finally, the company has not confirmed when the feature will reach all users worldwide.
