This order requires lawyers to remove all unauthorized monograms, metal plates, and insignia from their personal vehicles. Many private cars and motorcycles currently display titles such as “Advocate” or “High Court of Sindh” without proper legal standing. The council maintains that these practices violate the established professional conduct for legal experts in the region.
The official circular clarifies that the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act of 1973 does not permit such markings. Furthermore, the Sindh Bar Council vehicle rules align with the 2017 provincial regulations. Lawyers have exactly 15 days to follow these instructions. This timeframe applies to all modes of transport, including motorcycles and private cars. The council stated that only elected members of the body hold the right to use official insignia. Any other use by general practitioners represents a breach of the law and professional ethics.
Authorities warned that non-compliance will trigger immediate disciplinary action. Starting mid-April, the Privilege and Vigilance Committee will identify vehicles with unauthorized markings within court premises. The Disciplinary Committee will then handle these cases for further proceedings. The council also noted that some lawyers print official monograms on their private visiting cards. The current Sindh Bar Council vehicle rules and general conduct guidelines strictly prohibit this behavior.
