Punjab Eid cleanliness drones take to the skies for the first time as over 184,000 workers clear more than 110,000 tons of animal waste across the province
Punjab has taken its Eid cleanliness operation to a new level. The provincial government deployed drone technology for the first time to monitor sanitation efforts across the province during Eid ul Adha. Punjab Eid cleanliness drones gave authorities a real-time aerial view of waste collection and disposal operations. Moreover, the scale of the ground operation beneath those drones is equally remarkable.
According to a spokesperson for the Suthra Punjab programme, authorities collected and disposed of more than 110,000 tons of animal waste during just the first two days of Eid. Lahore alone generated over 17,000 tons of waste. Furthermore, workers cleared it promptly as part of the large-scale sanitation drive running across urban and rural areas simultaneously.
Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari confirmed that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is personally monitoring the operation. More than 184,000 Suthra Punjab workers are actively on the ground. They work continuously to ensure waste collection and disposal stay uninterrupted throughout the festival period. Therefore, the operation combines technological oversight from above with an enormous human effort on the streets below.
The cleanup goes beyond simply removing waste. After clearing animal remains, teams wash streets, neighbourhoods, and roads. Additionally, workers spray rose water across cleaned areas to maintain hygiene and improve sanitation conditions during the festival. Therefore, the operation targets both public health and the overall experience of residents celebrating Eid across the province.
Punjab has run large-scale Eid cleanliness drives before. However, the addition of drone monitoring marks a genuine step forward in how the province manages its sanitation infrastructure during high-demand periods. Finally, with 110,000 tons of waste cleared in two days, the numbers speak for themselves.
