Petrol Price Increased by Rs 26.77 as Diesel Also Jumps Sharply

Petrol price increased

The federal government approved a big increase in fuel prices on Friday. The Prime Minister sanctioned a rise of Rs 26.77 per litre for diesel and the same amount for petrol. Following this approval, petrol price increased to Rs 393.35 per litre. Diesel now costs Rs 380.19 per litre. Officials confirmed that the new prices will take effect immediately from Saturday, April 25. The hike will remain in place for the next seven days.

This increase reverses last week’s relief at the pumps. The government had previously decreased diesel by Rs 32.12 per litre. That reduction brought diesel down to Rs 353.43 per litre. Petrol remained unchanged at Rs 366.58 per litre last week. Now both fuels face a sharp upward correction. The petrol price increased by the exact same margin as diesel. Consumers will feel this immediately on their daily commutes and transport costs.

The timing of this hike adds to public frustration. Many households already struggle with high inflation. Transporters will likely raise fares again. Goods carrying costs will climb, pushing vegetable and fruit prices higher. The petrol price increased just as the government announced new solar taxes and other levies. Ordinary citizens see no end to their financial burdens.

Diesel powers the agricultural sector and heavy transport. Any diesel hike directly impacts food prices. The government cites global market trends for this decision. But consumers care only about their shrinking wallets. Another week of expensive fuel begins tomorrow.
