The Pakistan Banking Summit 2026 wrapped up in Karachi on July 8. The event closed after two days of intense discussion among bankers, regulators, and policymakers. The Pakistan Banks Association organized the summit. More than 1,200 people attended, including international experts and development partners. Therefore, the summit confirmed its place as the nation’s premier banking platform.

More than 15 international speakers took part this year. Over 20 local thought leaders joined them. As a result, the event offered space for global perspectives. It also strengthened ties between the public and private sectors. Additionally, organizers used the platform to plan practical steps forward. These steps aim to build a more resilient and inclusive financial system.

Several senior figures delivered keynote remarks. Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb was among them. State Bank of Pakistan Governor Jameel Ahmad also spoke. Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani addressed the gathering as well. Deputy Governor Saleem Ullah and Citi’s Global Head of Services, Shahmir Khaliq, also took part. Meanwhile, LUMS Founding Pro-Chancellor Syed Babar Ali sent a special video message.

Speakers covered nine thematic sessions in total. Topics included Pakistan’s economic outlook and financing for priority sectors. Other sessions focused on digital currencies, retail banking, and capital markets. Additional discussions explored climate-responsive finance and Islamic banking.

Governor Jameel Ahmad stressed the need to sustain reform momentum. He urged banks to expand access to finance and embrace innovation. He also described a financial system that could grow more inclusive and competitive.

PBA Chairman Zafar Masud echoed that message in his closing comments. He said the banking industry stands ready to work with the government. Similarly, the industry aims to partner with the State Bank of Pakistan. This partnership seeks to expand financial inclusion and accelerate innovation.

Steering Committee Chairman Atif Bajwa also spoke at the summit. He called for stronger alignment between policy, regulation, and financial priorities. He also pushed for reforms that draw greater private investment.

PBA CEO and Secretary General Muneer Kamal delivered the closing remarks. He noted that the summit’s real value lies in its partnerships. Furthermore, he pointed to the ideas it turns into concrete action. Ultimately, this year’s Pakistan Banking Summit 2026 reinforced Pakistan’s flagship banking platform. It brought national and international leaders together to shape the country’s financial future.
