Meta now lets parents see what teens ask its AI through a new Insights feature that tracks conversation topics. The update gives parents a clearer view of how teenagers interact with artificial intelligence. However, it does not reveal exact messages or private chats. Instead, it focuses on transparency while maintaining a level of privacy.
The new Insights tab sits inside Meta’s supervision hub and provides weekly reports. These reports show the general themes teens explore using Meta AI on Facebook Messenger and Instagram. Categories include school, entertainment, lifestyle, travel, writing, and health. As a result, parents can better understand their child’s interests and concerns.
Moreover, the tool breaks down topics into more detailed subcategories for deeper insight. For example, lifestyle includes fashion, food, and holidays. Health and wellbeing covers fitness, physical health, and mental health. This structure helps parents identify patterns in behavior without accessing sensitive conversations directly.
Importantly, Meta designed the feature to avoid sharing actual dialogue between teens and AI. This approach aims to balance parental awareness with user privacy. Therefore, parents receive useful summaries without intruding on personal exchanges. The company says this design supports safer and more responsible AI use.
The rollout has already started in countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Brazil. Meta plans to expand the feature globally in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the update follows increased scrutiny after a court ruling held the company responsible for risks to minors. Consequently, Meta has paused some AI character features for teens while it works on improvements.
Meta now lets parents see what teens ask its AI as it shifts toward greater transparency and safety. The company has also introduced conversation prompts to help families discuss AI use openly. Ultimately, this feature reflects a growing effort to protect young users while keeping them engaged with technology.
