K-Electric Announces Ashura Relief For Karachi Consumers

K-Electric Ashura relief

K-Electric has announced that K-Electric Ashura relief measures will come to Karachi during the observance. Loadshedding will remain suspended in designated areas during Ashura, which will be observed on June 25 and 26, 2026.

The power utility made this decision to facilitate religious processions, majalis, and other gatherings throughout the city. Therefore, residents in these areas can expect uninterrupted power during the sacred period.

According to the company, 371 feeders have been designated as high priority for the occasion. These include 244 medium- and high-loss feeders that would normally face scheduled loadshedding. So the exemption covers a significant portion of Karachi’s electrical grid.

K-Electric said the identified feeders will remain exempt from loadshedding from the evening of 8th Muharram until the morning of 11th Muharram. This timing ensures coverage throughout the main days of observance.

The utility has also carried out extensive coordination with relevant authorities and stakeholders. Moreover, this preparation ensures uninterrupted power supply along procession routes and at congregation points across the city. Additionally, the K-Electric Ashura relief plan includes deployment of additional technical resources.

K-Electric’s operational teams will remain on high alert throughout the period. Furthermore, they have positioned extra staff to address any faults or emergency situations as quickly as possible. So response times should remain minimal even if unexpected issues arise.

In a separate relief measure, the company has extended payment deadlines for electricity bills. Bills with due dates of June 25 and 26 can now be paid until June 29, 2026. Importantly, no late payment surcharge will apply to these extended payments.

The utility said all scheduled banks and authorized payment collection centers have been informed. Therefore, customers can pay without penalty during the extended window. Finally, this additional relief recognizes the financial pressures families face during major religious observances and gatherings.
