Islamabad United outclassed defending champions Lahore Qalandars by nine wickets on Friday. This dominant win at National Bank Stadium marks United’s third victory in PSL 11.
The team chased a modest 101-run target with ease. They wrapped up the match in the 11th over. Devon Conway led the charge with a brilliant unbeaten half-century. While Sameer Minhas fell early to Shaheen Afridi, Lahore struggled to find further breakthroughs.
Conway and Mohammad Faiq quickly took control of the game. Their fluent partnership deflated the Qalandars’ defense. Conway finished with a superb 59 off 35 balls*. He hit seven fours and three sixes during his stay. Faiq supported him well, scoring 34 off 19 deliveries to secure the win.
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars suffered a disastrous start with the bat. The team collapsed for just 100 runs in 18.3 overs. Imad Wasim set the tone by dismissing Mohammad Naeem for a first-ball duck. Islamabad’s spinners then tightened the screws on the middle order.
Chris Green bowled brilliantly, taking 3 for 19 in his four overs. He removed Haseebullah Khan, Ryan Burl, and Sikandar Raza. Shadab Khan, Richard Gleeson, and Faheem Ashraf also claimed key wickets. This emphatic result boosts Islamabad’s standing in PSL 11. Meanwhile, the defending champions must now address a fragile batting lineup that offered no resistance.
