Babar leads Zalmi to final

Peshawar Zalmi stormed into the PSL 11 final on Tuesday. They crushed Islamabad United by 70 runs in the Qualifier at the National Stadium, Karachi. Consequently, Babar leads Zalmi to final after another breathtaking century. He smashed 103 off 59 balls, striking 12 fours and four sixes. This marks his fourth PSL hundred. Zalmi posted a massive 221 for 7 after batting first.

Zalmi got off to a flying start. Babar and Mohammad Haris added 72 runs for the opening wicket. Haris played an aggressive cameo of 35 from just 16 balls. He fell in the seventh over. However, Babar then stitched together another important stand with Kusal Mendis. Mendis made 41 off 26 deliveries. United briefly pulled things back in the middle overs. Shadab Khan removed Bracewell and Abdul Samad in the same over. Despite that, Babar leads Zalmi to final by holding firm throughout. He brought up his century in the 18th over. Aaron Hardie then added late impetus with a quick 20 off 10 balls.

Islamabad United started their chase brightly. Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas shared a 58-run opening stand. Minhas top-scored with 44 off 23 balls. Mohsin Riaz contributed 25. Nevertheless, once the early momentum faded, United’s chase quickly fell apart. Aaron Hardie struck key blows in the middle overs. Sufiyan Muqeem and Mohammad Basit tightened their grip. Wickets fell in clusters. United eventually bowled out for 151 in 18.4 overs. Hardie returned figures of 3 for 24. Muqeem and Basit picked up two wickets each.

The win sends Zalmi straight into the final. Meanwhile, Islamabad United will get another shot at reaching the title clash. They will face the winner of Eliminator 1 in Lahore on May 1. For now, Babar leads Zalmi to final with a complete team performance.
