Pakistan extends airspace ban on Indian aircraft for another month. The Pakistan Airports Authority issued a fresh Notice to Airmen today. The restriction now remains in place until May 24, 2026. The previous ban was due to expire on April 24. The latest extension stays effective until 4:59 am on May 24. The ban applies to both of Pakistan’s flight information regions. Karachi and Lahore cover the country’s entire controlled airspace.
Pakistan extends airspace ban to all Indian-registered aircraft without exception. Indian airlines and operators also face the closure. Military flights receive no special permission. The restriction has now completed one full year. Pakistan first imposed the ban in April last year. Tensions with India escalated following the Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir. New Delhi accused Islamabad of involvement without presenting any evidence. Pakistan rejected the allegation and offered a neutral investigation.
Pakistan extends airspace ban as both countries keep their skies shut. Soon after the original closure, India also blocked its airspace to Pakistani airlines. Regional flight operations faced major disruptions. Carriers were forced to use longer, more expensive routes. Air connectivity between the two countries shows no sign of returning to normal. Pakistan’s top civil and military leadership announced the original closure on April 24, 2025. That decision came as part of a broader response to steps taken by India.
The one-year mark has passed without progress. Another month of closed skies awaits.
