Pakistan’s Foreign Office labeled the attacks on civilian and economic targets a flagrant violation. It said the strikes breached Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Such attacks, it added, threaten peace and stability across the region. They also undermine efforts to reach a durable resolution to the Yemen conflict. Islamabad reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, security and prosperity. Additionally, it expressed solidarity with the kingdom’s leadership and people.

The Houthis launched coordinated attacks on four southern Saudi cities. These included Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, according to Saudi authorities. The strikes triggered fires at energy facilities. They also forced some operations to halt. Those injured included women and children, with 73 people wounded in total.

Saudi Arabia, the world’s top oil exporter, described the attacks as a dangerous escalation. Meanwhile, the strikes came amid a wider surge in Middle East tensions. Confrontation between the United States and Iran pushed oil prices higher. This also raised concerns over regional energy supplies.

Pakistan invoked the UN Charter and international law in its statement. It backed Saudi Arabia’s right to take necessary measures to defend its territory. The Foreign Office said this includes protecting citizens and residents. It also covers safeguarding national assets against threats. Islamabad wished those injured a swift and full recovery.

Pakistan said it has been making, and will continue making, every effort toward lasting peace in the region. The statement comes as Islamabad seeks to position itself as a diplomatic player. It hopes to help ease escalating Middle East tensions. Instead of stepping back, Pakistan has repeatedly called for dialogue and de-escalation. Finally, the country continues maintaining close strategic ties with Saudi Arabia even as regional tensions rise.
