Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan produced a match-winning all-round display to lead his side to a commanding win over Quetta Gladiators. This high-stakes encounter took place during the 2026 Pakistan Super League at Gaddafi Stadium. Initially, the Islamabad United captain starred with the ball by picking up three important wickets for just 23 runs. His disciplined four-over spell kept the Quetta Gladiators to a total of 183 for five. Consequently, this performance set the stage for a clinical chase under the lights in Lahore.
During the second innings, the Islamabad United captain promoted himself up the order to finish the job with the bat. He remained unbeaten with a blistering 69 off 39 balls, striking five fours and four sixes. Furthermore, he formed a massive unbroken century stand with young sensation Sameer Minhas. Minhas continued his exceptional form by scoring an unbeaten 83 off 48 deliveries. Together, the pair steered their team home in just 18.2 overs, wrapping up the chase with eight wickets to spare.
The Islamabad United innings began on a positive note as Devon Conway and Sameer Minhas added early runs. Although Quetta’s Abrar Ahmed broke the opening partnership and removed Andries Gous, the team maintained total control. Specifically, Sameer and Shadab rebuilt the innings smartly before shifting gears to take the total beyond 100. As a result, Quetta’s bowlers lost their grip on the match during the middle overs. Sameer also celebrated a personal milestone by bringing up his maiden PSL fifty during this dominant stand.
Earlier in the evening, Quetta Gladiators had posted a competitive 183 for five after a lively start. Openers Shamyl Hussain and Saud Shakeel added 50 runs before Salman Irshad provided the first breakthrough. Shakeel kept the scoreboard moving with an aggressive 42, but the Islamabad United captain removed him at a key stage. Although Hassan Nawaz played a strong recovery hand with an unbeaten 64, it ultimately was not enough. United comfortably completed the chase with ten balls remaining, signaling their strength in the ongoing tournament.
