Peshawar Zalmi Reach Fifth PSL Final After Four Years

Peshawar Zalmi will play their fifth PSL final on May 3, 2026, when they face Hyderabad Kings Men at Gaddafi Stadium. The match marks their return to the title stage after four years. As excitement builds, the team enters the final with a history that includes both a championship win and several close disappointments.

Peshawar Zalmi first reached the final in 2017. That season, the team qualified under the leadership of Shahid Afridi. However, Afridi injured his hand during the eliminator in Dubai and missed the title match. As a result, Darren Sammy led the side in the final.

On March 5, 2017, Peshawar Zalmi defeated Quetta Gladiators by 58 runs at Gaddafi Stadium. That victory gave the franchise its first and only PSL title. Moreover, the win remains one of the most important moments in the club’s history because it established Zalmi as one of the league’s strongest teams.

The team returned to the final in 2018. This time, the match took place at National Stadium on March 25. However, Islamabad United edged past Peshawar Zalmi by three wickets. Consequently, the franchise finished as runner-up despite another strong campaign.

A year later, Peshawar Zalmi reached their third final on March 17, 2019. Once again, National Stadium hosted the title clash. However, Quetta Gladiators produced a dominant performance and won by eight wickets. Therefore, Zalmi suffered another painful defeat on one of the biggest nights of the season.

Peshawar Zalmi played their fourth and most recent final at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium on June 24, 2021. There, Multan Sultans beat them by 47 runs. Now, as Peshawar Zalmi prepare for their fifth PSL final, past results show resilience, but they also underline the challenge of turning another final appearance into a second championship.
