Pakistan, Canada reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand in Islamabad. The two leaders reviewed recent progress in bilateral ties and discussed regional and international developments. They also agreed to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, agriculture, and industry.

During delegation-level talks, both sides stressed the importance of maintaining regular diplomatic engagement and building a stronger long-term partnership. Ishaq Dar welcomed Anita Anand to Islamabad and recalled their previous meeting in Switzerland. He said Pakistan remains committed to proactive diplomacy and believes both countries have significant opportunities to deepen bilateral cooperation.

Ishaq Dar described the Pakistani community in Canada as a valuable bridge between the two countries. He expressed confidence that Anita Anand’s visit would provide fresh momentum to bilateral relations and encourage greater collaboration across multiple sectors. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening economic and diplomatic engagement for mutual benefit.

Anita Anand thanked Pakistan for the warm welcome and reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to expanding ties with Pakistan. She praised the contribution of more than 300,000 Canadians of Pakistani origin, describing them as an important part of the relationship. She also said both countries can play a positive role in the global economy through closer cooperation.

The Canadian foreign minister highlighted broad opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, industry, and other priority sectors. She expressed optimism that the visit would lead to productive discussions and strengthen cooperation in areas that benefit both countries. Officials from both sides also discussed ways to expand trade and investment.

Earlier, Anita Anand arrived in Islamabad at the invitation of Ishaq Dar and received a formal welcome at the Foreign Office. She is scheduled to meet Pakistan’s top leadership during her visit to discuss the full spectrum of Pakistan, Canada relations. Both governments hope the high-level engagement will open new avenues for long-term partnership and regional cooperation.
