Xiaomi has opened pre-orders in China for the Mijia Smart Gas Stove 3 Max, its first AI-powered gas stove. Unlike previous models, this stove focuses heavily on safety rather than cooking performance alone. The stove is available through JD.com for approximately $400.
AI-Powered Safety Features
The stove relies on AI for two main safety systems: dry-burn protection and off-stove detection. The right burner includes a pressure-sensitive titanium-alloy probe that withstands temperatures up to 500°C. It maintains contact with the pot’s base and continuously tracks temperature changes.
An AI algorithm then analyzes these readings to detect issues such as an empty or dry pot. If it senses a potential problem, the system automatically cuts the gas supply and extinguishes the flame. Additionally, users can receive alerts through the Xiaomi Home app whenever they step away from the kitchen.
The second safety system uses radar to monitor an area extending nearly one meter in front of the stove. If the user stays away for 30 minutes, the stove sounds a reminder. After 60 minutes, it automatically shuts off the gas and sends a notification through the app.
5,200W Burners and Built-In Timers
Both burners deliver up to 5,200W of power for faster, more consistent cooking. They also use a dual-channel oxygen-supply system featuring 154 flame holes for more even heat distribution. Furthermore, forged brass caps help the burners resist deformation under high heat.
Each burner includes an independent timer adjustable between 1 and 180 minutes. This makes it easier to manage longer dishes like soups or braised meals without constant supervision. The right burner can also display real-time pot temperature at the press of a button, which helps with frying and stir-frying.
Improved Efficiency and Cooling
Xiaomi has added a three-layer air chamber to the stove’s rack for better heat management. The company claims this system can lower temperatures around the cooktop by up to 22°C. Consequently, users may notice less heat buildup during extended cooking sessions.
The stove achieves 75% thermal efficiency and meets China’s newest first-tier energy standard. Xiaomi says this marks a 12% improvement over the previous generation. Over eight years, the company estimates households could save around $137 in gas costs.
Easier Cleaning and Installation
The glass cooktop features a lotus-leaf-inspired nano coating that repels oil and water for simpler cleaning. Xiaomi has also included an adjustable chassis supporting countertop openings between 630mm and 710mm wide. It also fits depths ranging from 330mm to 400mm.
Therefore, replacing an existing stove should require little to no additional cutting in most kitchens. Overall, this AI-powered gas stove combines smart safety technology with strong efficiency gains. Xiaomi’s approach signals growing interest in bringing intelligent monitoring into everyday kitchen appliances.
