The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory for the twin cities. Heavy Islamabad Rawalpindi rain is expected over the next two days. PMD officials warn that heavy downpours on Tuesday and Wednesday could cause urban flooding in low-lying areas. Therefore, residents and authorities should remain vigilant during this period.
The incoming weather system will bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms to both cities. Moist currents from the Arabian Sea are continuously affecting the upper parts of the country. Additionally, moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal are expected to enter northeastern regions starting Tuesday evening. A westerly weather system is also set to influence the upper parts. Therefore, multiple weather systems will enhance rainfall activity simultaneously.
Besides Islamabad and Rawalpindi, rain accompanied by windstorms and thunderstorms will affect many other areas. Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Okara, and Kasur will experience similar conditions. Several adjoining districts will also receive precipitation. So the Islamabad Rawalpindi rain extends across a large regional area.
The PMD warned that strong winds and lightning could damage vulnerable structures. Solar panels may sustain damage during the storms. Additionally, electricity poles face potential harm. Furthermore, billboards and temporary structures could collapse. Therefore, property owners should secure outdoor installations immediately.
The department advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy rainfall. Strong winds and reduced visibility make driving hazardous. Moreover, electrical storms pose additional safety risks. So residents should stay indoors during the worst weather periods.
Officials urged relevant authorities to take precautionary measures. Emergency services should prepare for potential flooding scenarios. Additionally, disaster management teams should position rescue equipment strategically. So coordinated preparations can minimize weather-related damages.
The PMD added that prevailing hot and humid weather is likely to subside. As the rain-bearing system moves across the region, temperatures should moderate. Therefore, residents will experience relief from the intense heat. Finally, the Islamabad Rawalpindi rain represents a significant weather event requiring proper preparation and caution.
