Pakistan Vows Action Against Terrorists Wherever They Operate

Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has issued a definitive warning that the state will not tolerate domestic violence motivated by international events. Speaking to a gathering of prominent Ulema in Rawalpindi, the Army Chief signaled a toughened stance against external efforts to destabilize the country, emphasizing that Islamabad will target terrorist elements wherever they operate. This address comes at a time of heightened regional volatility, with the military leadership making it clear that Pakistan’s internal security remains a red line that cannot be crossed by proxy actors or foreign-inspired unrest.

During the session, Field Marshal Munir highlighted the success of the ongoing Operation Ghazab lil Haq, reiterating that the military will continue to execute precise, intelligence-driven strikes against terrorist infrastructure. A significant portion of his message was directed toward the Afghan Taliban, as he stressed their responsibility to ensure Afghan soil is not utilized as a staging ground for attacks against Pakistan. While affirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional de-escalation through diplomatic dialogue, he warned that any act of violence within Pakistan’s borders triggered by incidents in another country would be met with an immediate and decisive military response.

The Army Chief also called upon the religious leadership to serve as a bulwark against sectarianism and misinformation. He urged the Ulema to counter extremist narratives and ensure that religious sentiments are not exploited by external sponsors to undermine social harmony. By framing the struggle for national security as a collective responsibility, the military leadership aims to insulate the domestic population from the “spillover” effects of neighboring conflicts, such as the ongoing war in Iran or tensions along the western border.

In response, the participating religious scholars voiced their unanimous support for the rule of law and the efforts of law enforcement agencies. They condemned all forms of violence carried out in the name of religion and backed the military’s proactive stance on safeguarding national sovereignty. This high-level engagement underscores a strategic alignment between the military and religious institutions to maintain order as the country navigates a complex and rapidly shifting geopolitical environment.
