Meta has introduced Muse Charm, a small AI-powered gadget designed to make its Muse AI assistant available through a dedicated physical device. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg described the keychain-sized gadget as a “joyful little device” during its announcement. Therefore, the launch marks another step in Meta’s growing hardware lineup.

Meta Muse Charm Brings AI to a Keychain-Sized Device

Muse Charm is designed as a modern take on the classic Tamagotchi-style digital companion. The device features a small display that shows a customizable Muse character. This allows users to interact with the AI assistant throughout the day.

Unlike traditional AI assistants that require users to open a smartphone app, Muse Charm works as a standalone device. Users can carry it on a keychain, place it in a pocket or wear it using a strap. Instead of relying on a phone, the device offers direct, always-on access to Muse.

Hardware and AI Features

The device features a small display, built-in cameras, microphones, speakers and USB-C charging support. The cameras allow Muse to analyze images and provide AI-powered assistance based on what the user sees. Additionally, Muse Charm includes a fingerprint sensor for accessing the device.

The device also supports a built-in 5G connection. This lets it connect to Meta’s AI services without relying on Wi-Fi. However, Muse Charm does not support traditional phone or video calls.

Customizable Digital Companion

Users can customize the Muse character shown on the device, including its appearance and voice. Meanwhile, the gadget can also communicate with other Muse Charm devices placed nearby. Setup and synchronization happen through the Muse app, which will be available for both Android and iPhone users.

Meta Expands AI Hardware Lineup

Meta is positioning Muse Charm as another step in its broader AI hardware strategy, alongside its smart glasses and other AI-powered devices. The company expects many users to continue accessing Muse AI through smartphones and smart glasses. Still, Muse Charm gives people who want a more direct AI experience a dedicated option.

Availability

Meta plans to launch Muse Charm in December. The company has not announced official pricing yet, although reports suggest it could cost around the same as a smartwatch. Finally, Meta is treating this first version as an early product release and may introduce future versions depending on user response.
