According to family members, the five men left Pakistan four months ago. They had sold their savings, livestock, and other belongings to pay Rs 4.5 million to Rs 5 million each to travel agents. The agents promised to take them to Italy via Saudi Arabia and Libya.
Their journey ended in heartbreak when the overcrowded boat capsized in rough sea conditions near the Libyan coast. All five young men drowned. One person from their group, Imran Sher, survived and has reached Italy safely.
The news has deeply shocked the families and entire villages in Hafizabad, including Bagh Kehna, Kot Nizam, Tahli Goraya, Behak Muqeemuddin, and Chohdu Khunian. People are mourning the loss of these young men who had hoped to support their families.
This Libya boat tragedy once again highlights the extreme dangers of illegal migration. Every year, thousands of Pakistanis risk their lives on these dangerous sea routes due to unemployment and poor economic conditions at home.
