An event organizer allegedly fled with the phones of more than 50 women at a farmhouse in Karachi’s Gadap area. Police say the suspect, Salman, told the women that nobody could film at the farmhouse. He then collected their phones. Moreover, he allegedly fled the premises with the devices later.

The women had arrived in two buses after receiving a job offer. One woman told police that the group expected food, Rs. 2,000 and training to set up stalls at an event. The promise of food and Rs. 2,000 reportedly drew them to the venue.

However, the buses never went to the private housing society they expected. Instead, the buses brought them to the farmhouse, where they heard that their boss would hold a meeting. Meanwhile, Salman collected the phones and issued receipts.

The women realized later in the evening that someone had allegedly stolen the phones. According to her statement, Salman fled on a motorcycle with another man. He carried the phones in a bag. Many of the women are now without their devices after the visit.

Police have taken the farmhouse manager into custody and recorded his statement. Additionally, the affected women reached Gadap Police Station. The farmhouse sits in the Gadap area of Karachi, where the incident took place.

The farmhouse administration told police that it had heard about a corporate event. Still, it said it did not know that anyone would take the phones. It also said it had not received payment for the event.

Furthermore, the missing payment leaves open the question of who arranged the gathering. Police are continuing their inquiry into the incident. Therefore, the focus now falls on tracing Salman and the man who rode with him.

The case shows how a promise of work can lure people to an unfamiliar place. Finally, the administration confirmed that the event organizer had collected the phones before fleeing the premises.
