Adobe Unveils AI Assistants Across Creative Cloud Apps

Adobe AI assistants Creative Cloud

Adobe is rolling out new Adobe AI assistants across Creative Cloud, aiming to help users complete repetitive, multi-step tasks more quickly. Users will be able to describe the result they want, and the software will handle tasks such as organizing footage, resizing images, preparing layouts, and producing rough video cuts.

The company is rolling out its “creative agent” across Creative Cloud, the Firefly platform, and third-party AI services including ChatGPT and Claude. Adobe describes the creative agent as a connecting layer between ideation, creation, and production. The system coordinates multi-step workflows while users describe their desired final result. However, users still choose which tasks to hand off and which parts to complete themselves.

AI Assistants for Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Frame.io are launching in public beta. Meanwhile, the After Effects assistant remains in private beta for now. Each assistant is built specifically for the application in which it operates.

In Premiere, the assistant can sort footage into bins, rename multiple clips, and identify interview questions. It can also place markers and assemble a rough cut automatically. In Photoshop, the tool can replace backgrounds, resize content for different platforms, and organize layers across a composition. Notably, these tools focus on repetitive production work rather than creative decision-making.

Illustrator’s assistant can complete multi-step production tasks, including generating 50 file versions using spreadsheet data. It can also reorganize layers and run preflight checks for issues like incorrect colour modes and missing fonts. In InDesign, the assistant can update layouts using a new brand PDF, adjusting text, styles, and print-readiness requirements.

The Frame.io assistant can organize footage, combine feedback from different revisions, and generate B-roll. Additionally, Adobe is expanding its Firefly AI Assistant, which is already in public beta, with new tools aimed at social media creators and independent business owners.

A new brand kit feature can generate a logo, brand identity, and colour scheme from a simple description. Another tool turns product photographs into short videos, while Quick Cut automatically edits clips into an initial assembly. Users can also build storyboards and generate videos directly from them.

The Firefly assistant supports plain-language asset searches and learns workflow preferences over time. Furthermore, users can invite collaborators to review work before publishing. Adobe is separately testing a redesigned Firefly Studio interface that merges generation and editing into a single workspace, though it remains available only through a private waitlist.

This redesigned Studio includes Elements and Projects. Elements store characters, locations, and objects for reuse across generations. Projects, meanwhile, combine assets, outputs, and context from both Firefly and Creative Cloud. Both features stay limited to waitlist users for now.

Adobe is also extending its tools to other platforms. Its tools already work inside ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft 365 Copilot, and the company plans integrations with Google Gemini and Slack as well. Forest Key, who leads agentic AI and Firefly at Adobe, said creative ideas often start in conversations with teams or clients rather than inside a single application. He added that the creative agent will serve different users differently, depending on their workflow needs.

The new Firefly features are available now through the web application. Still, the redesigned Studio interface, along with Elements and Projects, remains limited to waitlist users. Finally, Adobe has not announced a timeline for when After Effects or the Studio redesign will reach wider availability.
