A Historic Victory for British-Pakistani Representation
A British-Pakistani woman elected councilor from Reading Borough Council has made history this week. Saadia Saadat became the first Muslim and Pakistani councillor to win the Caversham Heights ward, located on the outskirts of London.
Saadat contested the recent local elections in England on a Conservative Party ticket. She also became the only Pakistani and Muslim candidate to secure victory from this ward. Her win represents a major milestone for the British-Pakistani community.
She secured the seat despite strong campaigns from the Reform and Green parties. How did she pull it off? Through an extensive door-to-door campaign and active community engagement. Saadat managed to turn a previously Labour-held seat into a Conservative victory.

A graduate of Pakistan’s prestigious National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Saadat currently holds a senior position at a multinational company in the United Kingdom. She also serves in an important role with NUST UK.
Having lived in Britain for the past two decades, Saadat has received several awards and certificates of recognition from various social organizations. These include honors presented at the House of Lords for her political and community services.

Saadat dedicated her historic victory to her father, Zafar Saadat. She said his support and encouragement remained a major source of strength throughout her political journey.
