The Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently visited the Simly Dam for an in depth review of its current operations and future expansion plans. The dam provides 40 percent of the water supply to Islamabad. Consequently, Simly Dam to become a major destination for water sports and recreation under new development plans. During the briefing, Minister Naqvi learned about the plans for the dam’s expansion. He requested a comprehensive, actionable plan for its enlargement to ensure a steady and sufficient water supply, particularly during the dry seasons.
In addition to discussing water related concerns, Minister Naqvi also assessed the surrounding area of the dam. He instructed officials to prepare a detailed development plan to boost recreational activities in the region. Therefore, Simly Dam to become a major destination for tourism and leisure activities that can benefit the local community. The minister expressed optimism that the region could attract both local and international visitors. The development of recreational opportunities, including water sports, will boost the local economy and provide employment opportunities for nearby residents.
