OGDC starts production at the Baragzai X-1 well in District Kohat. The Oil and Gas Development Company announced the news officially today. This well sits inside the Nashpa Exploration License area. The company first discovered hydrocarbons in March 2026 from the Lockhart Limestone formation. Now the well flows steadily. Current output reaches 5,300 barrels of oil per day. Gas production adds 17 million standard cubic feet daily. LPG contributes another 15 metric tons.
The numbers show strong potential from this single location. OGDC built an 8-inch flowline to connect the well with the Mela facility. The pipeline stretches approximately 8.1 kilometers. The Nashpa Plant now processes all hydrocarbons from Baragzai. Processed gas goes directly into the SNGPL transmission network. No delays or bottlenecks exist in the system.
OGDC starts production at Baragzai with significant working interest. The company holds a 56.45 percent stake in the project. Joint venture partners include Pakistan Petroleum Limited at 26.05 percent. Government Holdings Private Limited owns the remaining 17.50 percent. The next development phase includes two appraisal wells. These will assess the reservoir size more accurately. Production capacity could increase further after those results.
Accelerating discoveries into production remains a key strategy for OGDC. Pakistan needs to strengthen energy security. Reliance on imported fuels must drop. Every new domestic well helps achieve that goal. The company filed this disclosure under the Securities Act 2015 and PSX regulations. Shareholders can expect positive news from this development.
