Karachi Port Handles Biggest Ever Fuel Delivery in Record Breaking Operation

Karachi Port handles biggest ever fuel

The bunkering industry just hit a new milestone. Karachi Port handles biggest ever fuel delivery, supplying 4,900 metric tons of marine fuel to the MSC Apollo. Vitol’s bunker vessel Marine ISTA completed the operation on April 13. The MSC vessel made a bunker only call at the Karachi Port Trust area.

This record delivery builds on rapid expansion of Pakistan’s marine bunkering infrastructure. In November 2025, Marine ISTA set the country’s largest very low sulphur fuel oil delivery at 6,800 metric tons. Earlier this year, Pakistan formally launched modern marine bunkering services through Vitol at Karachi Port. The plan targets 500,000 to 600,000 metric tons of marine fuel annually across Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and anchorage areas. The roadmap also aims for 70 to 100 bunker operations per month during 2026.

Karachi Port handles biggest ever fuel delivery at a critical time for Pakistan’s maritime economy. Industry officials say this expanding market could provide a significant boost to the refinery sector. It creates a stable domestic outlet for fuel oil production. The milestone also strengthens Pakistan’s competitiveness as a shipping and transshipment destination. Vessel turnaround efficiency should improve too.

Karachi Port handles biggest ever fuel delivery, positioning the city as an emerging regional bunkering hub. That means more ships, more fuel sales, and more revenue for Pakistan.
