Military Aircraft Carrying 125 People Crashes In Southern Colombia Region

A tragic aviation accident occurred in Colombia as a military C-130 transport aircraft, carrying 125 people, crashed in the southern Amazon region. The incident happened just two miles away from a densely populated urban area shortly after its departure.

The Colombian Air Force Commander confirmed that the flight manifested 114 passengers alongside 11 dedicated crew members. A significant majority of those on board were military personnel traveling toward the border region near Peru before the sudden and fatal descent.

Emergency response teams arrived quickly at the crash site, successfully rescuing 77 individuals from the mangled wreckage. Despite these heroic efforts, authorities have confirmed at least one person has died, and many more remain missing in the dense terrain.

An official investigation is currently underway to determine the exact technical or environmental causes behind this devastating crash. Aviation experts are analyzing flight data and weather patterns to understand why the heavy transport vessel failed so close to a city.

President Gustavo Petro expressed deep sorrow over the incident and the loss of life during this military mission. He emphasized that this tragedy highlights the urgent need to upgrade the nation’s aging fleet to ensure the safety of personnel.

The President further vowed that he would no longer allow any delays in the comprehensive plan to modernize the military fleet. Efforts remain focused on locating survivors and providing medical assistance to those recovered from the crash site today.
