Salman Ali Agha was found guilty of violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the match in Dhaka. The global cricket body issued a formal warning to the Pakistani batter.
The incident occurred after Bangladesh captain Mehdi Hasan Miraz dismissed Agha via a controversial non-striker end run-out. This sparked a heated reaction from the player as he departed the cricket field.
According to the ICC, Salman breached Article 2.2, which relates to inappropriate physical conduct or abuse of cricket equipment. Consequently, one demerit point has been added to his official disciplinary record.
The Pakistani captain has reportedly accepted the charges and the proposed sanction from the match referee. Former cricketers have meanwhile criticized the dismissal, calling it against the true spirit of the game.
